Lucia loved to read books. She had a big bookshelf in her room, filled with all kinds of stories. She liked to imagine that she was the hero of every adventure, and that she could travel to different worlds with her books.
One day, she found a new book on her bookshelf. It was a thick, leather-bound book with golden letters on the cover. It said: “The Magic Bookshelf: A Guide to the Wonders of Reading”. Lucia was curious and opened the book.
She saw a map of a strange land, with mountains, forests, rivers, and castles. There were also names of different genres, such as fantasy, mystery, science fiction, and more. Lucia noticed that there was a small compass on the corner of the page, pointing to one of the genres. It said: “Your first destination: Fantasy”.
Lucia turned the page and saw a picture of a beautiful fairy with wings and a wand. She read the caption: “Meet Flora, the fairy of flowers. She will be your guide in the land of fantasy. To join her, just say these words: ‘I wish to enter the magic bookshelf’”.
Lucia thought it was a silly game, but she decided to play along. She said the words out loud: “I wish to enter the magic bookshelf”. To her surprise, she felt a gust of wind and a bright light. She closed her eyes and when she opened them again, she was in a different place.
She was standing in a meadow full of colorful flowers. She smelled their sweet fragrance and heard their gentle whispers. She saw Flora flying towards her with a smile.
“Hello, Lucia! Welcome to the land of fantasy! I’m so glad you came! I have so many things to show you and tell you! Come on, let’s go!” Flora said.
Lucia couldn’t believe it. She had entered the book! She felt excited and nervous at the same time. She followed Flora as they flew over the meadow.
They saw dragons breathing fire, unicorns running in the rainbows, mermaids swimming in the sea, wizards casting spells, and more. Flora explained to Lucia that these were all characters from different books that Lucia had read or could read in the future.
She also told her that every time she read a book, she would learn something new and have fun at the same time. She said that reading was a way of exploring new worlds and making new friends. Lucia was amazed by everything she saw and heard. She felt like she was living her own adventure. She asked Flora if she could stay there forever.
Flora shook her head and said: “No, Lucia. You can’t stay here forever. You have to go back to your own world soon. But don’t worry, you can always come back whenever you want. All you have to do is pick up a book and say the magic words.”
Lucia felt sad and happy at the same time. She hugged Flora and thanked her for showing her the land of fantasy. She said goodbye to all the characters she had met and wished them well.
She closed her eyes and said the magic words: “I wish to return to my own world”. She felt another gust of wind and a bright light. She opened her eyes and found herself back in her room.
She looked at the book on her lap and smiled. She saw that the compass had changed its direction and pointed to another genre. It said: “Your next destination: Mystery”.
Lucia felt a surge of curiosity and excitement. She wondered what mysteries awaited her in the next book. She couldn’t wait to find out. She opened the book and turned the page…
